9 Underrated Tips So You Don’t Get Ignored by Dream Clients, Big Brands and Industry Collabs

These tips helped me get my name in over 25 published articles (with more coming out as we speak) and made dream partnerships with national beauty brands possible, too! Give these a try, if you want to be the go-to expert in your beauty or wellness niche!

1. Show Your Face and Share Your Voice Confidently

Post videos or photos of yourself discussing industry trends. People connect with faces, and sharing your voice helps build a personal connection with your audience. Use features like green screen to enhance your content. Your social media feed should definitely have your face checkered in – don’t just post random photos and graphics.

Imagine you only post pictures of your work and generic graphics. When your audience never sees your face or hears your voice, it makes it difficult for them to connect with you personally. Consequently, your engagement rates stay low, and potential clients might choose other professionals who seem more personable and approachable.

2. Share Your Point of View

Regularly share your unique perspective on beauty trends, your opinions, where you see your industry going, what you’re working on, expert tips, favorite lists, and lessons learned. These activities position you as a thought leader and attract attention from both clients and brands.

If you stick to posting only standard content like before-and-after photos and stock photos, without sharing your insights or opinions, your content gets dry. This leads to your social media presence feeling bland and unoriginal. Potential clients and industry peers see you as just another service provider rather than a thought leader, reducing your opportunities for recognition and collaboration.

3. Write a Blog

Create insightful blog posts on your website. This showcases your expertise and attracts brand attention. It demonstrates your commitment to your craft and your willingness to give value to your community freely. Blogs also show-off your writing and communication skills which are crucial when you want to get published or work with a big brand. When you don't have a blog, your website lacks fresh, engaging content. Visitors don't find valuable information that showcases your expertise. This results in lower website traffic and diminished chances of being discovered by brands and clients searching for knowledgeable professionals in your field.

4. Get Published

Aim for full-length articles and press mentions. Brands love to partner with recognized experts. The more press you get, the more press you’ll attract – it snowballs. Being featured in reputable publications increases your credibility and visibility. If you never pitch to magazines or seek press opportunities, your name probably won’t appear in many industry publications. Without these credentials, you miss out on the authority and prestige that come with being featured in notable print and online sources. Brands and potential clients might overlook you in favor of those who have been published and recognized as experts.

5. Up Your Vocabulary

Speak with command and authority by using industry-specific terms. This shows your knowledge and establishes you as an expert in your field. When you communicate confidently, people are more likely to trust and respect your opinions. When you use overly simplistic language and avoid industry-specific terms (like not calling skin conditions by their formal, clinical names, for example) clients and colleagues may perceive you as less knowledgeable and less professional. This can lead to a lack of trust and authority in your field, making it harder to attract high-end clients or collaborations.

6. Learn Sales Psychology

Understand your clients’ needs and how to communicate value effectively. This makes you a more attractive collaborator because brands and clients will see that you can connect with and influence your audience. If you never invest time in understanding sales psychology, it can result in ineffective communication with your clients. You might struggle to convey the value of your products and services, leading to fewer bookings and sales. Clients might not feel understood or appreciated, reducing their loyalty and likelihood to recommend you to others. 7. Promote Yourself

Don’t put prospects in the friend-zone. Always promote your skills and services confidently. Afterall, you are running a business; not showcasing a hobby! Let people know what you offer and how they can benefit from working with you. Self-promotion is key to gaining recognition and attracting opportunities. When you shy away from promoting your current offers, promotions, sales and services, fearing you might come off as narcissistic or boastful, potential clients and partners are totally unaware of what you offer. Your business growth stagnates because you’re not actively showcasing your talents and achievements…don’t do this! Not to mention, brands partner with content creators that they know will show up and sell!

8. Surround Yourself with Winners

Collaborate with other successful professionals and cut out the naysayers. This elevates your energy, ups your brand’s status and opens doors to new opportunities. Networking with industry leaders can lead to partnerships and endorsements that enhance your credibility. If you isolate yourself from other professionals and don’t seek collaborations, you’re limiting your exposure to new ideas, strategies, and opportunities. Without the inspiration and support from a network of successful peers, your business might stagnate, and you miss out on potential partnerships that could elevate your brand. Your next collab or partnership is just an email or DM away! Go for it!

9. Celebrate Your Wins

Regularly share your achievements (think: google reviews, testimonials, press mentions, awards, screenshots of feedback, etc). Making success look normal for you attracts like-minded brands and individuals. Celebrating your wins not only boosts your morale but also shows others that you are a successful and reliable professional. If you tend to downplay your successes and never share them publicly, clients and peers are unaware of your achievements, which can make it seem like your business is not progressing. This can lead to missed opportunities for recognition, awards, and further success, as people tend to gravitate towards those who celebrate and share their accomplishments.

By implementing these strategies, you can boost your visibility, credibility, and authority in the spa, beauty, and wellness industry. Start applying these tips today, and watch as brands begin to approach you for opportunities and you become the go-to expert in your niche!
