Stop Selling Yourself Short: 3 Fast Ways To Brag Better In Your Bio

Let’s get straight to the point:

If your introductions sound like, “Hi, I’m [Name], and I’m an esthetician/physician/makeup artist/massage therapist,” you’re selling yourself short.

Why am I so fired up about this? Because I’m working with some incredible students inside my press programs—women with jaw-dropping qualifications: physicians, estheticians with waitlists, celebrity clientele, and women running wildly successful wellness businesses.

Yet, when it comes to bragging about their earned credentials, I hear nothing but crickets.

(Cut to me, screaming into my pillow... why, ladies? Why?!)

Whether it’s on your website about page, your Instagram bio, or your video content, how you introduce yourself is the first impression you’re making on potential clients, collaborators, and journalists. And let me tell you: First impressions matter. A lot. I KNOW you don’t want people to scroll right past you!

The truth is, if you’re not willing to brag a little, you’re holding yourself back. And let’s be real: stop worrying that people will think you’re “cringe”—because they won’t.

Does it offend YOU when I say, “Hi, I’m Elizabeth Donat, a 20-year beauty pro, multi-licensed esthetician, and 50x published expert”? Probably not. Why? Because it’s all true AND because these credentials are the reason you trust me to deliver this kind of content!

So, I’m begging you—yes, begging—get more braggy.

Here’s the 3-Step Process to Confidently Introduce Yourself:

  1. Your Title + How Many Years You’ve Been Doing It
How do people know you’re qualified? You tell them. Instead of just saying, “I’m an esthetician,” say, “I’m a (enter your state) Licensed Esthetician with 10+ Years of Experience.” Your title and years of dedication build instant credibility.

  2. What You Specialize In + How It Manifests
Get specific about what makes you unique and how your expertise shows up in the world. Do you own a spa, run a clinic, or offer online services? Make sure people know exactly how you deliver value.

Example: “I specialize in advanced corrective skincare and run my own boutique spa where I've helped over 5K clients achieve radiant, glowing skin.”

3. Your Accolades (Your Bragging Rights)
This is where you really shine. Share your awards, nominations, media coverage, the number of 5-star reviews, or even the fact that you have celebrity clients. These are the achievements that set you apart as an expert and make people sit up and pay attention.

Example: “I’m an award-winning, celebrity esthetician with over 100 five-star reviews.”

Why Does This Matter?

Because when people know who you are, what you do, and why you’re amazing, they trust you. And when they trust you, they book you, buy from you, and want to learn from you.

Your Homework

Write a 2-sentence introduction that includes all 3 of these elements. Then, use it everywhere—on your website, Instagram bio, email signature, and even in your video content. Don't hold back, and remember: owning your expertise is what makes you stand out.

Now, go ahead, get braggy—and show the world what you’re made of.
